Bhutan is a year-round destination for holidays. Most visitors prefer to visit Bhutan during the spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) seasons when the weather is pleasant and many festivals are celebrated.
Visitors of all nationalities except Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian require a visa to visit Bhutan. We arrange your visas and it is included in our tour package.
You can fly from several international cities to Bhutan’s Paro International Airport. Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines are the two carriers that operate flights to Bhutan.
Bhutan has a minimum daily package requirement for a visitor. This daily tariff includes standard accommodation, meals, a licensed guide, internal transport, moment fees and other services.
Independent travel is not allowed in Bhutan. Visitors must book their trips through a licensed tour operator and follow a pre-arranged itinerary.
Bhutan is a country rich in tradition and has a deep respect for its cultural identity. Dress modestly, remove shoes before entering temples, and ask for permission before taking photos of people or religious sites.
The official language is Dzongkha, but English is widely spoken and used in schools and government offices.
It is advisable to be up-to-date on routine vaccines. You may consider vaccines for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, and rabies. It’s important to drink bottled or boiled water to avoid waterborne illnesses.
Bhutan is generally very safe for visitors. However, always take standard precautions, such as being aware of your surroundings and safeguarding your belongings.
Some must-visit places include Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery), Punakha Dzong, Dochula Chorten and Thimphu’s Buddha Dordenma in the west, a Phobjikha Valley, Jampa Lhakhang and Ura Bumthang and Trongsa Dzong in the Central and Chorten Kora Trashiyangtse, and Takila Lhuntse in the East.
A visitor can attend local festivals, such as the Paro, Punakha and Thimphu Tshechu, are highly recommended as they offer a deep insight into Bhutanese culture and traditions.
The currency is the Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN). Indian Rupees are also accepted. Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and some shops, but it is advisable to carry cash, especially in remote areas.
Pack layers, as the weather can vary significantly. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a warm jacket for the evenings, and modest clothing for visiting religious sites.
