Bhutan follows a unique tourism policy to maintain high value, low impact tourism. This policy is reflected in the mandatory minimum daily package rates for tourists, which cover various aspects of travel and help preserve the country’s cultural and environmental integrity.
The package includes accommodation in a 3-star hotel or equivalent, with options to upgrade to 4 or 5-star hotels available at an additional cost. Meals provided throughout the stay include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A licensed tour guide will offer professional guide services during your visit. Internal transport is included, covering airport transfers as well. For trekking tours, camping equipment will be provided if applicable. - USD 240 per night for solo travellers.
Additional Fees
- Visa Fee: USD 40 per person, typically included in the tour package.
- Surcharge for Small Groups: USD 40 per night per person for a group of two.
- USD 30 per night for solo travellers.
- Upgraded Services: Additional costs apply for 4- or 5-star accommodation, specialized tours, and certain activities like archery or hot stone baths.
- Luxury Add ons: Luxurious stays, private tours, or specific activity requests may increase the overall cost.
Discount
- Children under 5: No charge (accompanied by guardians).
- Children aged 5 to 12: 50% discount on minimum daily package rates and no surcharge for small groups.
- Students: Full time students under 25 years with valid student ID receive a 25% discount on minimum daily package rates.
- Large Groups of 11 or more people receive a 50% discount for one person.
- Groups of 16 or more people receive a 100% discount for one person.
How to Make Payment?
The payment process for tours in Bhutan requires full advance payment, including the minimum daily package rate, visa fee, and any upgrades. Payments are made via wire transfer to the Department of Tourism, with guidance provided by the tour operator. After payment is received, the visa is processed, and a visa clearance letter is issued for presentation upon arrival.
